FAQs

What is Powertrain Plus?

Powertrain Plus is a Service Contract that protects you against costly powertrain breakdowns for as long as you own your vehicle. The coverage is on Engine, transmission, and drivetrain components. With rising costs & complexity of engines and transmissions this provides the contract holder with an added layer of protection.

Is there a deductible that I need to pay?

Yes, the deductible for any claim is $100.00 and the rest of the parts and labor expense is covered by the contract..

Where do I do my vehicle maintenance?

Dealer recommended maintenance is required to be done at the selling dealership. This ensures that your vehicle is being cared for by a licensed service professional. All selling dealers must be approved by us prior to becoming a licensed Powertrain Plus facility. This ensures that you have the highest quality of workmanship performed on your vehicle.

How do I know what maintenance is required to keep my Powertrain Plus contract in force?

It is required that you maintain the vehicle with the selling dealer who has been trained and well-versed in the maintenance requirements for your vehicle. No maintenance schedule shall exceed 6 months or 6,000 miles between maintenances, whichever comes first. To check to see the maintenance required for each particular make and model Edmunds Recommended Maintenance Guide is a good resource. Keep in mind that some areas of the country may require more stringent maintenance requirements because of extreme weather (hot or cold) conditions.

What if my vehicle is equipped with an oil change light/indicator reminder system?

Recommended maintenance will need to be performed when your indicator signals you for maintenance, but cannot exceed the maximum terms of 6 months or 6,000 miles, whichever comes first. Remember while oil change indicators accuracy has improved it does not take into account weather and dust conditions, which requires oil to be changed at the minimum of 6 months or 6,000 miles whichever comes first, in order to keep your contract intact.
